Alisha Tomlinson

Owner, Primary Pet Sitter

Alisha Tomlinson is the owner and primary pet sitter of Heavy Petting Pet Sitting. A Charlotte native, she brings a lifetime of love for animals to her work. After several years working at a large veterinary practice, she witnessed behind the scenes mistreatment of boarding dogs and cats in noisy kennels and knew there was a better way.

Since 1995, she has walked, petted and loved hundreds of client’s pets like they were her own. Alisha is one of Charlotte’s most experienced pet sitters.

Alisha is a vegetarian, active in animal rescue, feral cat colony manager and takes care of her own herd of cats, dogs, potbellied pigs, and chickens when she isn’t taking care of your pets.

Alisha is Red Cross Pet First Aid/CPR certified and has cared for a large variety of animals. If you love them, so can Alisha. Until his death in 2009, Alisha also visited nursing homes with Mr. Joy, her tiny therapy rooster.

Troy Tomlinson is Alisha’s husband and back up sitter. He often accompanies her during visits on nights and weekends.

Troy is vegan and responsible for bringing 2 dogs and three cats into their blended family in 2002 and MANY more since then. He has a special way with animals of all sizes, especially Chica their chihuahua/poodle mix Chica. Alisha and Troy actually fell in love helping a friend Trap/Neuter/Release a colony of feral cats in 2002.

Services offered while you're away

Your pet sitter will visit up to three times daily for:

Feeding • Fresh water, exercise and playtime • Litter box scooping • Administering oral/topical/injectable medication

Excellent pet care is our priority, but we also:

Bring in packages, mail and newspapers • Turn on/off lights inside and outside for lived in look • Roll out trash and recycle bins on schedule • Open and close drapes and blinds • Light indoor plant watering. Outdoor watering with a hose under 5 minutes upon request

Other Service Information

- We always drive unmarked vehicles to insure your privacy and discourage would-be intruders.

- Walks and potty breaks are available as a standard $25 visit outside of the Monday through Friday 11:00am -3:00pm time slot and outside the general service area.

- We still don’t charge extra fees for extra pets, reservation cancellation fees, holidays, weekends, administering oral or topical medications, belly rubs or kisses. Complex visits that take longer than 20 minutes may incur additional charges. Rates will be confirmed during your in home consultation and at each reservation confirmation.

Services we do NOT offer

- No ‘every other day” visits. 48 hours is too long for any pet to be alone. One 30 minute visit per 24 hour minimum is best for your pets.

- We cannot feed LIVE feeder fish or mice to your pets. Crickets and mealworms are okay. Frozen/thawed pinky mice or processed raw meats okay.

- No house sitting or overnight stays. We have pets and families at home who would miss us too much. Please ask for a recommendation.

- No service to large apartment complexes or condominiums. If your complex requires fobs, has a parking deck or requires a sitter to be buzzed in each visit we cannot offer service,
