We provide dependable, professional care at reasonable rates.

Alisha Tomlinson is the owner & primary pet sitter of Heavy Petting Pet Care. A Charlotte native, she brings a lifetime of love for animals to her work. After several years working at a large animal hospital, she witnessed 'behind the scenes' treatment of boarding dogs and cats and knew there was a better way. Since 1995, she's walked, petted and loved hundreds of her four legged friends like family. Alisha is a vegetarian, active in animal welfare issues and takes care of her 8 chickens, 8 cats and 2 dogs when she isn't taking care of yours.
Alisha is Pet First Aid/CPR certified and has cared for a large variety of animals: Dogs, cats, caged birds, ferrets, fish, turtles, rabbits, hedgehogs, squirrels, opposums, chickens, ducks, lizards and a very contrary goat. If you love them, so can she !
Until Jan. 2009, Alisha also visited nursing homes with Mr. Joy, her tiny therapy rooster. You can read more about their work at www.mrjoy.net

Troy Tomlinson is Alisha's husband and back up sitter. He often accompanies Alisha on nights and weekends. Troy is also a talented photographer and owns Flaming Chicken Studio in NoDa.
Troy is also a vegetarian and is responsible for bringing 2 dogs and 3 cats into their blended family. He has a special way with dogs of all sizes, especially their little Poodle/Chihuahua/Pomeranian mix, Chica.
Troy also loves bee keeping, gardening, crafting homemade beers and geocaching.
Alisha & Troy actually fell in love helping a friend trap/neuter/release a colony of feral cats. They were married in 2003 surrounded by all their friends. Mr. Joy was their ring bearer.
